Ted Webb named Uxbridge Citizen of the Year!  Congratulations, Ted.  The Ride For Africycle crew is looking forward to having Ted join us on the final day of our ride.

“At 7 p.m., the Times-Journal introduced its Citizen of the Year. Ted Webb emerged from the sidelines on a bicycle, conjuring cheers from the audience. Mayor Bob Shepherd offered the crowd, now about 1,000 strong, some background into Mr. Webb’s ‘Africycle’ project and how he is benefitting youth here and overseas with his work.

Mr. Webb was handed a plaque from the Times-Journal but MPP O’Toole and MP Bev Oda, who was also on hand, made a surprise presentation to the 22-year-old entrepreneur and volunteer. Both politicians commended Mr. Webb on his ongoing project to ship bicycles overseas for use by residents of Malawi, handing him commendations from Ontario and Canada to add to his collection of awards for the evening”.
